Bike Down Haleakala Volcano

Sunrise Tours or First-Light or Day tours are offered. Sorry, no sunset tours are currently offered.

The option is available for pick-up from your hotel. This will be between 2:00 and 3:00 am depending on the time of year, and you’ll be taken to the 10,000 foot summit of Haleakala Crater to enjoy sunrise. You’re provided wind jackets & pants, hats & gloves, but dress in layers! ~The wind chill at the summit at sunrise is usually around 30 degrees!
After sunrise, you’ll get on the bikes at the entrance to the park (no bike riding within Haleakala National Park) and coast down from about 6500 feet to sea level into the original territorial capital of Hawaii, Paia or in to Ha’iku. This is an exciting, exhilarating and beautiful 28-mile downhill ride on paved roads with only 400 yards of peddling. You won’t believe it, you won’t forget it!
Some tours include breakfast when you arrive at the coast, some stop for you to get your breakfast at scenic spots on the way down. There are guided group tours or you can ride at your own pace and be on your own with companies that provide maps, bikes, backpacks and the windwear.
